Primitive reflexes are the fundamental building blocks of human development. If they remain active instead of integrating, they can have significant impacts on a person’s function and ability to participate meaningfully in their world.

We use well-researched, evidence-based Rhythmic Movements to help these reflexes integrate, effectively “resetting” the nervous system’s foundation to support function at all life stages.

Understanding Primitive Reflexes

Primitive reflexes are automatic, involuntary movements that develop in utero and are essential for a baby’s survival and early development. They typically integrate (or “switch off”) within the first year of life as higher-level brain control takes over.

When Reflexes Integrate

As the brain matures, these automatic responses are replaced by voluntary, controlled movements. The child develops smooth coordination, good balance, emotional regulation, and the ability to focus and learn effectively.

When Reflexes Remain Active

If these reflexes don’t integrate properly, they continue to “fire” involuntarily, creating challenges with coordination, attention, emotional regulation, learning, and sensory processing. The nervous system remains in a more primitive state.

What Rhythmic Movements Look Like

Rocking, rolling, and swaying: Movements that mimic how babies naturally move in the womb and during their first year of life.

Slow and repetitive: These aren’t exercises—they’re gentle, rhythmic patterns that signal safety to the nervous system.

Done at home: We teach you the movements to practise at home (3-5 minutes, 3 times per week). Consistency is key—not intensity.

Playful and engaging: For children, we make these movements fun through games, songs, and storytelling.

We observe movement patterns, assess for active reflexes, and discuss developmental history and current challenges.

Based on assessment findings, we design a targeted program of rhythmic movements specific to your needs.

Parent/Client Coaching

We teach you the movements to practise at home—usually 3-5 minutes, 3 times per week. Consistency matters more than duration.

Ongoing Support

Regular check-ins (in-person or telehealth) to monitor progress, adjust movements, and celebrate improvements.
